Adrien Broner will return after over a year away from the ring at a fight that was supposed to be at a catchweight of 142 lbs, but has been agreed upon for 147 lbs. Keeping in mind that Broner was stripped of the WBA belt prior to his last fight against Ashley Theophane for failing to make the 140 lbs super-lightweight limit.
Adrian Granados is a longtime sparring partner of Broner's and he recently made waves in the boxing world after knocking out 18-0 prospect Amir Iman. That fight happened at 140 lbs and it is still not clear how the new weight will affect both fighters. Although, Broner has competed at 147 lbs against a solid welterweight in Chino Maidana.
When you compare both fighters, Broner will hold the advantage in skill, hand-speed and punching power. Although Broner will be at a significant 5" reach disadvantage and will need to get on the inside of Granados' rangy punches.
This shouldn't be a problem as Broner has shown the ability to use his skills in a similar fashion against John Molina, who was a much tougher opponent than Granados.
When all is said and done, look for Broner to win comfortably in front of his hometown fans against an overmatched opponent who lacks the experience to win in a scenario like this.
Prediction: Bet on Adrien Broner at (-350) odds
