Current odds have Murat Gassiev as the (-200) favorite with Yunier Dorticos as the (+150) underdog.
- Gassiev to win by KO (-110)
- Gassiev to win by Decision (+450)
- Dorticos to win by KO (+200)
- Dorticos to win by Decision (+1000)
- Draw (+2500)
Oddsmakers have Murat Gassiev as the short favorite, which is understandable considering he is fighting on his own home soil in Russia. Although, the smart money might be on the Cuban in this matchup.
The most impressive win in the young career of Gassiev was a split decision over Denis Lebedev, which was not exactly the most dominating of performances. Aside from that, his other most notable win was a KO over an aged Krzysztof Wlodarczyk.
This doesn't seem very impressive when compared to Yunier Dorticos' recent KO wins against Youri Kalemba and the undefeated prospect Dmitry Kudryashov. Not to mention the fact that 21 of Dorticos' 22 wins have come via stoppage, which should bode well for him as the visiting fighter in Russia because the judges are not likely to be a factor.
While Gassiev has more professional fights than Dorticos, he is definitely the less experienced of the two because Dorticos came up through the Cuban amateur class that produced so many great boxers. This is not to mention the fact that many of Gassiev's pro fights were not against quality opponents. If you factor in the edge Dorticos will have when it comes to experience, along with his speed and knockout power, it will be too much for Gassiev on this occasion.
Prediction: Bet on Yunier Dorticos at (+150) odds
